摘要：PURPOSE:To vary the rate of catalytic reaction according to the retention timeof exhaust gas and to uniformize the temp. distribution of a catalyst by making thesupport density of the catalyst in an exhaust gas path low at the wall sides of the pathand high at the central part. CONSTITUTION:The support density of a catalyst in anexhaust gas path 16 is made lowest (A) at the wall sides of the path at which the flow rateof exhaust gas is lowest and highest (C) at the central part at which the flow rate ofexhaust gas is highest. The support density is made medium (B) between the central partand each of the wall sides. Since the retention time of exhaust gas is prolonged at thewall sides and shortened at the central part, the temp. distribution of the catalyst can beuniformized.
